As a parent, you will come across all sorts of situations, from the ridiculous to the embarrassing to the simply hilarious. We already know all about the frustration and anger parts, so no real need to say much about that. However, when it comes to kids it’s absolutely true and that’s because they can be completely truthful even without realizing it. This is one of the cool aspects of being around kids and raising them.
However there are often real lessons for us as parents in these situations. When we end up needing our kids to keep us on the straight and narrow, it can be cure but irritating as well.
All parents are aware of the fact that they have an amazing responsibility to be a great example for their kids. We get a little break and breather once the children are a little older. However, there is no complete escape because we are aware that kids are like hawks and the see everything.
This can pose issues for some parents, depending on their particular situation. We want what’s best for our kids, despite all the problems and shortcomings we have. Despite the fact that we have our doubts, that doesn’t mean we want our kids to know or to take part in whatever behavior that happens to be. You may want to have a sit-down with your kids and just explain all of this to them if possible or practicable.
Personally, I have always thought that it was not fair to make a seventeen or eighteen year make decisions at this time when they are so inexperienced. Yes, this is the time that they are thinking about what types of professions they want to tackle as grownups. Quite naturally, they have numerous options that they can pull from these days. But as a parent, the best that any of us can do is to ensure that they have enough information on the subject. It is. Then make communications the highest priority and work with your teen child. Be there for them, but most importantly, let them know that they are making decisions for their life.
One of the most damaging things that any child can feel aside from not being loved is trying to be accepted for who they really are. As adults, a majority know what it feels like to be accepted. Plus, there are those among us who have had a hard time accepting some of the things about our children. But, when it is all said and done, they are still our children. Hopefully, all parents will advise their children that they are loved unconditionally and will always be welcomed in their home. The outside world will deal with them differently, but home is different too.
You will find that your parenting responsibilities will not be as hard if you can talk successfully with your children. Of course, this would mean that they are old enough to know what you are talking about.
